On 27th of May the ninth annual Awarding ceremony of the Russian national award of automotive business experts TOP-5 AUTO was held in Loft Moscow Red October Loft. As was the case last year members of the jury - Russian automotive journalists representing different mass media - not only express their independent opinions about the new models but also named the CAR OF THE YEAR. This time it is LAND ROVER DEFENDER.
Official vote counter - international company KPMG - has processed 432 ballots. 48 members of the jury took part in the final vote.
In the nomination COMPACT CITY CAR SKODA OCTAVIA has become the winner.
The votes of the jury in the nomination LARGE AND EXECUTIVE CITY CAR have been split and there are 2 winners: GENESIS G80 and VOLVO V90 CROSS COUNTRY.
In the nomination COMPACT CROSSOVER/OFFROADER AND SUV the award has been granted to RENAULT KAPTUR.
LAND ROVER DEFENDER has won in the nomination LARGE CROSSOVER/OFFROADER.
The jury has named PORSCHE 911 as the best in the nomination SPORTS CAR/COUPE/ROADSTER/CABRIO.
In the special automotive nomination LIGHT COMMERCIAL VEHICLE/PICKUP the award was given to VOLKSWAGEN MULTIVAN/TRANSPORTER.
RENAULT RUSSIA has been awarded in the non-automotive nomination BEST PR-DEPARTMENT OF A CAR MANUFACTURER. In this category the jury estimates the level of professionalism of employees in PR-departments of car companies, and their ability to build efficient communication between the automotive company and journalists.
In the second non-automotive nomination AUTO-PERSON OF THE YEAR the award has been won by JAN PROKHAZKA, head of Skoda Russia, for big achievements in automotive business in Russia.
Anton Chuikin, Chairman of the jury: “The ninth ceremony of the TOP-5 AUTO award has presented to us new winners - a great lineup of the best vehicles and the new CAR OF THE YEAR. By the way, I am absolutely convinced that our choice is more logical and right than the European’s one. Let us congratulate the winners and prepare for the new season which, I am sure, will be unusually prominent in terms of new models.”
